The congregation of Bloekombos received the Apostle Thompson with much excitement on the morning of Sunday 20 January 2019.

The Apostle was equally pleased to be with the congregation and greeted them by mentioning that it was not too late to say: “Happy New Year”.  The congregation showed their agreement with smiles and laughter all around. The Apostle was accompanied by Priest David Cupido.

Verse twelve from the first chapter of James was used as the basis for an inspiring divine service.  The Bible word reads as follows:  “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

Apostle Thompson used the analogy of an athlete throughout the divine service.  The congregation was advised to adopt the right spiritual nutrition, discipline and conduct, just like a professional athlete would in a natural sense.  A key message was that we are to ensure control of our own behaviour, in spite of the actions of others.

Souls were added to the spiritual community through the Act of Holy Sealing and the Deacon Brian Fish was placed into well-earned retirement.  The Apostle asked the retiring servant to continue as an example and to support the active ministers in their labours until our Bridegroom returns.

Some treats were prepared and enjoyed after the divine service.
