The funeral service of retired Apostle Willy de Smedt took place on Thursday, 31 August 2017 in Gezina congregation, Pretoria.
District Apostle Kriel greeted the bereaved family and congregation and read the Bible word from Acts 11:24: ‘For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.’
The District Apostle was accompanied by District Apostle Helper P Mkwanazi, Apostles J Joubert, S Mogane and L Meyer and Bishops S Naude, V Rudolph and D Mdhluli. Also present were a number of retired Apostle and Bishops from the greater Gauteng area.
The District Apostle said that the Apostle was a true example of faith and dedication. During the service the District Apostle asked Apostle Joubert to serve.
In closing, the choir sang one of Apostle de Smedt’s favourite hymns: ‘Pass me not O gentle Saviour’.
