On Saturday 4 November 2017, District Apostle J Kriel held a meeting with the Rectors of the Port Elizabeth and Eastern Cape Apostle Areas (excluding the Rectors of the Umtata region).
The spiritual portion given as a foundation for the meeting was taken from 1 Chronicles 28: 10 & 20 – 10, “Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.” “ And David also said to his son Solomon, ‘Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God-my God-will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.” The main focus areas on the District Apostle’s agenda were the following:
• Music Matters and
• Revision of the “Big Five Strategy”. This strategy consists of
1. Know your membership;
2. Increasing participation;
3. Guide for ministers;
4. Public Speaking and
5. Increasing parent involvement in Sunday School.
In addition to these points, the District Apostle added that all Soul Care Visits in 2018 should focus on greater involvement and participation of each member in their congregation life, under the banner “Count me in”.
The Rectors also had an opportunity to pose questions and engage in constructive discussions with the District Apostle.
The meeting was followed by a Music concert which took place in Palmridge congregation. The music programme for the concert featured themes surrounding the love and grace of God. The item, “For you I am praying” underlined the theme of the concert at best. The hard work put in by all the participants was blessed with a beautiful concert. After the conclusion of the concert, the District Apostle addressed the members and expressed his gratitude and joy, but also gave clarity to our task in terms of the service for the departed. All those in attendance left the hall with great joy.
