The first weekend of 2018 yielded a busy schedule for District Apostle J Kriel in the Southern Cape.
Back-to-back activities on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of January were on the agenda for the visit.
The New Year’s divine service on Sunday was preceded by a Rectors' meeting ahead of the opening of activities scheduled for the week starting Monday, 8 January. Whilst in the area of George, situated in the Southern Cape, the District Apostle J Kriel made use of the opportunity to meet with the Rectors of Apostle Cronjé’s area at the Parkdene church on Saturday. The gathering was used to set the tone for the ministerial and administrative activities at the start of the New Year. It was also a time for the District Apostle to bond with the Rectors - and the latter with each other - of the newly restructured Apostle working area which has been operational since the beginning of November 2017. After a fruitful gathering the delegates could focus their attention on the first Sabbath Day of the New Year.
Dellville Park congregation, together with the surrounding congregations of George, Hoogekraal, Geelhoutboom, Waboomskraal, Zebra and Ezelsjacht hosted the District Apostle for the New Year Service on Sunday 7 January 2018. A full congregation heard the motto for 2018-Faithful to Christ. This motto was given by Chief Apostle J-L Schneider, and the District Apostle amplified this message during the sermon. The annual logo is an important caption that defines activity programmes in the congregations around the globe.
Before the conclusion of the divine service, the District Apostle invited the retired Bishop Atkins and his wife Anna to step before the altar to receive their Golden wedding anniversary blessing. The act of blessing added further joy to a very special start to the year.
