The annual Church Choir and Youth event hosted by the congregations located

in the area of Embalenhle took place on 05 August 2017. Choirs from a number of congregations/districts from both District Apostle Helper MP Mkhwanazi and Apostle S Mogane’s working areas, joined hands to respectively bring hymns of praise to our Heavenly Father. The day finally arrived after months of preparation done by the faithful brothers and sisters of Embalenhle and its neighbouring congregations, also referred to as Tholokwazi and Progress congregations. Some of the objectives of this annual event are to:

• improve the quality of music within the New Apostolic Church
• create an opportunity for all to take part in the festivities to nurture unity amongst God’s elect and
• raise funds for the host congregation(s)/district.

This event was labelled by the following theme to guide all the items that would be delivered: “UNITY GLORIFIES GOD”.

After the opening hymn, “Come ye that love the Lord” sung by the mass combined choir, the District Elder Bentley Adams (Embalenhle District) opened the event with a Bible word from Matthew 16:26, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” The message being that we should work for our Heavenly Father and work on our spiritual preparation for the return of the Son of God. The event was formally opened in typical New Apostolic tradition through a prayer by the District Elder.

In total 7 choirs were in attendance and it is estimated that in excess of 1 000 people attended this well-planned event. In addition, a motivational speaker was also invited and his core message to the audience was, “Identify your talent(s) and the utilisation thereof for God”. Breakfast and lunch were also served and whilst eating the Embalenhle and Soweto orchestras entertained the audience.

The event was concluded with the hymn, “All hail the power of Jesus’ name” by the mass choir and a prayer by the district leader from Soweto.
