  • Administration offices

I am thankful to be able to address you once again regarding pertinent pastoral and administrative matters.

Returning to church (This applies to the members in South Africa)

The last time I addressed you, I announced that we would not be returning to church during June and July 2020. Along with your Apostles and Bishops, I have been watching the infection rates and spread patterns of the COVID-19 in our area.

The medical evidence, projection models and realities on the ground show that South Africa continues to see rising infections with significant increases now moving to the Eastern Cape and Gauteng regions. While the Western Cape was expecting a flattening of the curve, this now also appears to be delayed. Our medical staff and facilities remain stretched.

Given the above and in the interest of providing you with a safe environment to experience a divine service, we have decided that we will not return to church services during August. During August we are still in winter which is also the height of the cold and flu season. We will keep monitoring the situation and I will update you at the beginning of August on our proposed plans for returning to church.

Sexual Misconduct
Now I would like to turn our attention to a matter which continue to plague our society and which has again come into focus during the lockdown period. This is the issue of Gender-Based Violence, the abuse of children and Sexual Misconduct. The New Apostolic Church condemns all forms of Gender-Based Violence and abuse of children! We have identified a need for teaching and educating our members (including our children) and ministers on this subject. In 2018, I established a Sexual Misconduct Workgroup which was tasked with producing a Sexual Misconduct policy for the church. The aim of having a policy is to affirm the church’s stance of no-tolerance and to support our society in dealing with matters of sexual misconduct. I am happy to report that after 2 years we now have a policy which will guide our church on all matters relating to sexual misconduct. The policy covers legal and pastoral aspects and provides a framework for dealing with matters of sexual misconduct.

The rollout plan for the policy requires member input. The policy is available now for download and review from our website. I encourage you to please study the policy and if you have any comments, please submit these to the email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . We welcome your comments. At District Apostle area level, I am assisted by a panel of 4 external professionals and three pastoral leaders. This group has been operating since March 2020 and the results of their work will be shared according to agreed timelines. It is important that these matters enjoy a level of independence and that the pastoral leaders are guided by trained professionals.

We commence the first round of accredited training with the members who will work at an Apostle Area level and this will cascade to the different sections of the church. We are in search of skilled individuals who could assist at a district and congregation level too. If you have the requisite skills, please send your details to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  Those who find themselves victims of sexual misconduct by a member or minister can report this matter to the following email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. Easy Pay
Previously I reported that we have contracted EasyPay as a means for members to deposit their offering. This service is now fully functional at all Woolworths, Pick ‘n Pay, Boxer, Makro, Game and Builder’s Warehouse stores. We await activations at Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pep and Ackermans stores. I thank all those who continue to faithfully bring their offerings.

COVID-19 response group
Our workgroup tasked with providing protocols for returning to church. In the coming days, you will receive a document “Return to church guideline”. Please note this document has been drawn up from the regulations applicable in lock-down level 3. As regulations change, we will update these.
